Can I use my Dependent Care FSA to pay a babysitter while I attend Back-to-School Night?
Q.- Can I use my Dependent Care FSA to pay a babysitter while I attend Back-to-School Night?
A.- Generally, no. Dependent Care FSA expenses must enable you and your spouse, if applicable, to work or look for work. Babysitting expenses incurred so you can attend a school event such as Back-to-School Night are personal expenses and generally would not qualify for reimbursement.
However, if the babysitting expense is incurred because you are working during that time, it may qualify if the other Dependent Care FSA requirements are met.
