BAS’ community service team, “BAS Cares,” recently volunteered at Mitzvah Circle, a local non-profit dedicated to providing hope and restoring dignity to individuals and families in crisis. Mitzvah Circle supports those facing poverty, homelessness, and serious illness by providing essential items such as clothing, diapers, toothpaste, and deodorant—filling gaps not covered by government assistance. The organization depends on countless volunteers to meet the critical needs of over 100,000 people each year.

During the day, BAS volunteers sorted donations and packed boxes with age-appropriate personal items to be distributed as Mitzvah Circle Care packages. Our team described the experience as “awesome.” Listening to the staff and school-aged volunteers discuss Mitzvah Circle’s mission was both inspiring and touching. Here is some feedback from our group:

  • “It certainly opened my eyes to the harsh needs of others. I’m happy I participated.”
  • “I am glad I could do the little things for others! I am grateful for the opportunity!”
  • “Mitzvah Circle is an amazing organization that is helping so many people in need! I’m definitely going to donate some things and volunteer there in the future!”
  • “My daughter already started pulling some of her things aside and asked if we could donate them.”
  • “It was a nice experience meeting our colleagues and their family members outside of work and participating in such a meaningful event.”
